Picture of the Day - "Sure Sign of Spring - Osprey" - April 19, 2017

Took a short trip to check out what we could find today. Started out around Bouctouche and worked our way back. It appears that the Double-crested Cormorants are back in full force. We spotted a huge flock yesterday, sitting along the shoreline, that must have been around 100. We saw them again today, all out for a swim. Stopped at a new, to us, Osprey nest, outside Bouctouche when we saw a head peeking out. Within a minute or two, we heard some screeching and in came a 2nd Osprey, with some food. The pair flew around a bit and we managed to get some good shots when they flew overhead. Stopped by another nest and caught the pair in the nest. Bev caught a bit of hanky panky but I missed it. I did catch a bit of nest building as one of them brought a big stick back to the nest. This shot was from the first nest . Taken with Canon 70D, Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary @500mm, 1/5000 sec, f/8 and ISO 1600 (uncropped)
