Picture of the Day - "Away We Go" - Feb. 28, 2017

Took another road trip today, down to Halifax. On the way down we saw an eagle fly over the road, circle through some trees and back over the road with a branch. Looks like some home renovations in his future. Further down the road we saw a couple of, what we thought were, courtship flights of eagle pairs. On the way back we saw several more eagles, perched on power pylons or trees. We saw several hawks as well. We stopped by Joggins to see if we could spot the Gryfalcon but no luck. On the way back from there, we saw this hawk on a tree about to take off. He took off, going away from us, giving us a butt shot. I don't really like those but you can still see his head and the position of the legs and wings is so unusual. Taken with Canon 70D, Canon 100-400mm @400mm, 1/2000, f/10 and ISO 500
