Took a road trip today down to Saint John, looking for Wood Ducks. We didn't find any but we did see quite a few (a hundred or so) Northern Shovelers, dozens of gulls, a Savannah Sparrow and I think, a Black-bellied Plover. Stopped in Hampton to meet up with a fellow photographer/birder and saw lots more Shovelers and a couple of Turkey Vultures. Went down towards St. Martins, by way of the Loch Lomand lakes, looking for Eagles, but no luck. Heading back home, heading down the ramp from the highway, 5 minutes from home, this Hawk flew up onto the sign as we were driving past. He must have been 10 feet from the car when he landed. Taken with Canon 70D, Canon 100 - 400 mm @ 400 mm, 1/800 sec, f/5.6 and ISO 100
