Picture of the Day - "Little Revvers" - May 29, 2016

Today we drove around Nova Scotia and ended up in a few places. One of these places was Port Royal. It wasn't open today but we strolled around the grounds and came across this beautiful reddish pink flora bush (a 'Japanese Quince'). While admiring it, we could hear a loud whooshing sound that I thought was a small motorcycle engine revving. I looked around to see these Ruby-throated hummingbirds flying back and forth, around the bush getting nectar. Whoever named them hummingbirds, should have named them revving birds....lol. They are quite loud, especially when they are flying over your head :) They were really hard to get a photo of as they move extremely fast in every direction. But they didn't seem to mind us watching them or 'trying' to get pictures...lol.  I did manage to get a few with them flying. I picked out 2 of my favourites (one of a male and the other of a female) as I couldn't choose just one for my picture of the day.

Taken with Canon 7D Mark ll & Canon 400mm f5.6 L USM lens.
