Driving around Sackville again today before the snow storm hit, produced lots of hawks. However, this time instead of seeing mostly red-tailed hawks and only 1 or 2 rough-legs, we must have seen a dozen rough-legged hawks and only a couple of red-tailed hawks. As we were coming down one road, I spotted this guy sitting pretty in a tree. His markings were so striking that at first I wasn't sure it was a rough-legged hawk. He stayed perched there for a bit and looking directly at us. After a few moments, he decided to fly on, but he let us get a few photos in before he flew which was a nice change from the usual fly away before we stop the car.....lol.
