Today we took another trip on the Marsh and encountered the Golden Eagle again, but was quite a distance away, and a lot of Red-tailed Hawks. This guy was hunting and in full prey drive when we stopped the car. We were stopped by a tree, so I don't think it saw us right away. He was on the ground watching something and then took off like a shot in full drive. This is the last shot before he landed on his, I believe, second lunch (due to blood on his chest). More on this sequence coming.... Canon 7D Mk ll & Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM + Canon 1.4x lll teleconverter - @560mm, 1/1600, f8, ISO 2500, +0.7 exposure.
