Early this morning after work, we headed to Shediac area to see if there were any ducks around. When we arrived, there were a bunch of red-breasted mergansers in the water. We watched them for a bit chasing the one female and trying to impress her. At one point, there were a dozen males pursuing the female....lol. I will be doing a post with photos of the activity soon :)
We walked over to the other side and then saw these guys, Double-Crested Cormorants, all gathered together on this small piece of ice out in the water. I walked up to them little by little until I got within full frame distance. This photo is not cropped. They stayed there for a bit and let us take a few pictures. I love the composition of this with the light blue water reflecting the dark cormorants. They looked like they were gathered for their morning meeting :)
Taken with Canon 7D Mk ll & Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM + Canon 1.4x lll teleconverter @560mm. Effective focal length with this camera was 896mm (uncropped).
