Took another trip to Johnsons Mills today and was greeted by thousands of semipalmated sandpipers. We couldn't see them at first as they were on the rocks, and they really blended in. After a little bit, they began their flight patterns. It is amazing to watch. Light on one side, then dark on the other and they form what looks like "waves" on the water. This particular photo is when they took off in flight from the rocks and there were thousands that took off at the same time. You couldn't see the water behind them :)
