Picture(s) of the Day - "Rough-legged Hawk Fight" - Feb 6, 2018

Today was another day on the Marsh and we kept seeing this guy, as we have come to name "Mr Friendly" (not that he's friendly and lets you walk right up to him, but that he doesn't seem to fly off if you stop the car and will stick around). We watched him for a bit hunting, hovering, and then diving to the ground. This time he got his meal. We couldn't tell what he had, but he was seemingly enjoying his lunch. When these series of images were taken, he was standing on the ground after eating and looking around.

The first photo shows when he turned to look at us briefly and then was surveying the grounds once more to see if there were any more prey. After a few seconds of staring over to the other side of the road, he ruffled up and took off in flight, just above the ground, flying in our direction, going in front of our parked car, and to the other side for another meal. He is definitely not lacking for finding food. He's on the plump side :)

Feel free to share :)
