As any wildlife or bird photographer knows, when a bird or animal takes off, they invariably head away from you. We are so used to getting backside shots, it is a running joke. The odd time something takes off towards you, you are so shocked, you usually miss the initial take off. I was so surprised when I managed to get this series of shots when we spotted this eagle near Saint-Antoine. I managed to get the full takeoff sequence until my camera started to buffer. My only regret is that the eagle was backlit. The pictures still turned out great though. These were taken with my Canon 70D and the Canon 100-400mm @400mm, 1/3200 sec, f/11 and ISO 400.
