We were driving home after going on a day trip and quite happy with what we got to see and photograph, and along the treeline on the highway, we saw a dark bird up on the top of this tall dead tree. We both thought it was a crow and didn't think much of it. Then as we got closer, we both turned and said "That's not a crow" and quickly pulled over to the side and grabbed our cameras. It was a Red-tailed Hawk sitting there surveying his territory. He stayed for a couple of shots, then started to fly off, circling the trees above, coming in our direction, then off again. Such a beautiful bird.
