Bald Eagle Squabble - Sheffield Mills 2017

With a gathering of bald eagles in one area and food on the ground, there are always squabbles. These two were one of the incidents we   The adult was coming in for a landing with a partial chicken in his talons. There was a 4 year old (still a bit of brown on the head & tail) already on the ground, but he was watching the adult coming in very intently. When the adult got closer, the 4 year old swiftly flipped over to extend one talon to try grabbing what the adult had. Unfortunately, they ended up locking talons as the adult didn't give up his prize. You can see the sequence of what happened in the photos below with the 4 year old hollering at the adult after they locked together and another eagle standing in the background watching them, probably saying "I see nothing, I hear nothing" and another eagle in front of them eating his lunch, totally

In the end, the adult won and got to keep what he had and the 4 year old flew off in a huff with nothing for his It was amazing to watch. You could almost see the thought process of the 4 year old when he watching the adult coming in and then when they locked
